Cody Dalton, the driving force behind Catawba Valley Community College’s esports program,

has been named the Scholastic Esports Awards Two-Year Director of the Year!

This prestigious award recognizes Dalton’s outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment –

to student success in the rapidly growing world of collegiate esports.

Building a Winning Program

Since launching CVCC’s esports program in 2019,

Dalton has built a powerhouse, guiding the Red Hawk Esports team to six championships,

including back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association national titles in Call of Duty.

But Dalton’s impact extends far beyond the scoreboard.

More Than Just Wins

Dalton emphasizes the holistic development of his students,

fostering academic excellence alongside competitive spirit.

During his acceptance speech, he proudly highlighted the accomplishments of his 91 student athletes,

including 53 who achieved All-Academic status with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
