Ringling Rollers roll out success

Since the inception of the Ringling College esports program in March 2020, over 100 students have participated in intramural esports games, competing against each other all over the world and against students from local colleges.
In spring 2021, the program grew into three club esports teams and held practices in Overwatch®, Valorant, and Smash Bros to identify one team and game to be most competitive for varsity competition in the Fall 2021 semester.
In the fall of 2021, the varsity Ringling Rollers team came to life with their first varsity competitions. With E Ramey, Director of Recreation and Wellness and head of the esports program, we have granted each member of the Varsity team a scholarship, branded jersey, backpack, and scheduled practices in the arena.

And that practice paid off with the Ringling Rollers winning the Varsity Plus Fall 2022 East Coast Divisional Champs in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate® with a perfect 18-0 record.
In the spring of 2023, the JV Smash Brothers team won the 2023 East 5 Conference.
In August of 2023, the future was now, and the new Esports arena was open for practice and competitions. The Esports Arena is equipped with 10 CORSAIR VENGEANCE i7400 Gaming PC, with Intel Core i9-13900K, NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphic card, 64GB DDR5 5600 MTs Memory, and 2TB NVMe SSD. Four console stations have an Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
The 2024-2025 Academic Year teams include Overwatch, Super Smash Bros., and Valorant.

This Spring Semester, we saw our best Ringling Rollers semester yet. Smash and Valorant both finished 8-0 in the regular season, and Smash was awarded the #1 overall seed in the Open Plus 1 conference. Smash won the East 1A Conference with a thrilling comeback 2-1 match over Emerson College and was crowned league champion. Overwatch ended the season on a two-game win streak against Louisiana State University Esports and the University of Oregon. Valorant ended their best season yet with a runner-up finish in the East 6 conference.
