Baylor University Powers Up Esports Program with New Director

Baylor University has taken a significant step in expanding its commitment to competitive gaming

by hiring Adam Stanley as its first Esports Director and Coach.

This move signals Baylor’s intent to establish a competitive esports program,

recognizing the growing importance of esports in the collegiate landscape.

A Proven Leader at the Helm

Adam Stanley comes to Baylor with a strong track record of success.

He previously built the esports program at Brewton-Parker College into a national contender,

leading teams to nine conference championships.

This experience positions him well to guide Baylor’s esports program to new heights.

Expanding Baylor Esports

Stanley’s role will be pivotal in shaping the future of Baylor Esports. He will lead the university’s efforts in:

  • Competitive gaming: Developing and coaching Baylor’s varsity esports teams.
  • Student recruitment: Attracting talented esports athletes to Baylor.
  • Scholarship opportunities: Establishing and managing esports scholarships to support student-athletes.

A Hub for Esports Events

In addition to hiring Stanley,

Baylor University is also solidifying its role in the esports community by hosting significant events.

The university will host the Texas Scholastic Esports Federation’s Undisputed State Championships from May 1 to 3

at the Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center.

This event is expected to draw over 1,500 high school competitors,

showcasing Baylor’s commitment to supporting esports at all levels.

A Vision for Growth

Stanley’s vision for Baylor Esports extends beyond competition.

He aims to use esports and gaming culture as a tool for student engagement and development.

“Esports and gaming culture can be a powerful tool for students to thrive – socially, emotionally, academically,

competitively, and spiritually—I’m thrilled that the institution I love recognizes the transformational potential

of this massive yet largely unengaged student population.

As the scholastic esports ecosystem continues to grow, both collegiately and at the K-12 level,

Baylor has a tremendous opportunity to inspire, guide,

and provide structure to students and programs eager for direction,” Stanley said.

COLLABORATion Across CAmpus

Stanley will also support OSO Esports, the university’s existing club-level team,

and collaborate with various departments across campus,

including marketing, admissions, and academic units such as the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

This collaborative approach highlights Baylor’s commitment to integrating esports into the broader university community.

A Significant Step for Baylor

Baylor’s hiring of Adam Stanley as its first Esports Director and Coach

represents a significant step in the university’s commitment to esports.

With Stanley’s leadership and the university’s support,

Baylor Esports is poised for significant growth and success.
